Abstract

Organizational Culture is a set of shared values, beliefs and norms that influence the way employees think, feel and behave at work. The culture of an enterprise can have a crucial impact on the performance of organizational management. This research Project objectives were; To determine the Effect of Organizational Policies on Trade Facilitation at the Mombasa port in Kenya; To establish the Effect of Procedures and Harmonization on Trade Facilitation at the Mombasa port in Kenya and To explore the Effect of values and standards on trade facilitation at the Mombasa port in Kenya. The target population of the study was 263 elements of government and non-government agencies at Mombasa ports classified into seven membership categories i.e service providers, cargo owners, enforcement, policymakers, regulators, infrastructure providers’ and special interest partners. The sample size was 79 elements of the operational areas of the stakeholders targeted in the study. This study, therefore, used a stratified sampling technique. It majored on non-experimental methods to collect data by using descriptive methods e.g questionnaires’ and was administered by the Scholar. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Inferential Statistics. Descriptive information was used in the analysis of data and the recording of findings. The study found out that 81% of the sample attested to adequate motivation of employees always increases productivity up to the lowest level, this aspect has achieved some fruits in facilitating trade at work. This assertion is further rooted in the fact that 8 in 10 of the sample (84%) registering their approval that their organizations use mechanisms that enhance the workplace, productivity and performance. Measures of core phenomena, such as means, standard deviations and ratios, was also utilized. Inferential statistics, such as correlation and regression analysis was used to explain the degree of interaction between research variables. The study found out that there was a positive relationship between Organizational Policies (r=.435, n=73) and Trade Facilitation. This indicated that an increase in Organizational Policies would lead to an increase in Trade Facilitation, There was a positive relationship between Procedures and Harmonisation (r=.313, n=73) and Trade Facilitation, There was a positive relationship between Values & Standards (r=.236, n=73) and Trade Facilitation. The data collected was presented through report writing, graphs, tables and pie-charts. The data was analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively by using scientific statistical package SPSS version 21 and excel.
